A NEW FORTUNE FOR CHINA TOWNAs one of Manchester City Centre’s most distinctive areas, Chinatown needs no introduction, but thanks to extensive consultations and working partnerships, Manchester City Centre Management Company has designed, project managed and raised over £120,000 worth of funding to improve this famous area. To celebrate this famous destination’s new look and it’s community, Chinatown is being relaunched by Manchester’s Lord Mayor, Afzal Khan, at an official light switch on and firework display during the Moon Festival on Sunday 2 October. Extensive environmental improvements have been made throughout the summer to replace car park fencing, install cycle racks, repaint areas, improve footways and shrubbery, install ornamental lighting, banners and flood lighting as well as street washing. The Company has worked closely with residential communities and the public and private sector to fund the improvements that will enhance the character of Chinatown and make it a more attractive and safer environment for residents, visitors and businesses.
